A Good Break, Now What?

Hi everyone! This week has been a complete whirlwind. Last Tuesday through Sunday I was in Florida for a conference. The last few weeks I worked ahead in all of my classes so I wouldn't be in a different state scrambling to finish things. I wanted last week to simply BE. I thoroughly enjoyed a week off. God timed everything out so perfectly. He knew I would get weary and tired towards the end of this semester, and He knew I would be overwhelmed with all the wedding planning. So He so graciously sprinkled in a week off for me before Thanksgiving and finals week. Florida is absolutely beautiful. There are rivers, oceans, palm trees, lights, beautiful skies, and lovely people. The relationships I got to build at the conference were nothing short of God's work. Now that I have left I keep wondering what my life was like before I met these wonderful people. I gained so much knowledge and insight, and my faith deepened when hearing of the experiences they have had in their own lives. As I was in Florida, I went to a place called Metropolitan Ministries. I can't even begin to describe everything they do. But to keep it short and not very simple, they house women, children, and families. They help house them for up to one year until they get on their feet. They feed them and help them find jobs. They teach them how to save their income so when they leave they will have a good footing. The amount of support they give the community is absolutely incredible. They are a self-funded ministry, and donations are how they thrive! Going to this place really reminded me that I am incredibly blessed. Everywhere you go you will see people in need and get to know people who have had a hard life. Our job as Christians is to love people, build relationships with people, help people, and plant a seed of Christ for these people. I got to work in the daycare room where the babies and children go so their mothers and parents can work. It opened my eyes quite a bit and it deepened my love for children. It furthered my confidence in my calling as a future counselor to children and adolescents. And, now I am home. What do I do now? I am drinking lots of coffee, eating lots of "college" meals like peanut butter and bread, and I am fighting through these last few weeks of class. I am literally running on coffee, apple cider, and the fire of Jesus Christ. I am grounding myself as much as possible and praying as much as possible as our wedding draws exceptionally near. There are so many exciting things that are happening, and I can't help but give praise to God for answering my prayers...because every day I am living an answered prayer. And so are you.

If you want to donate to Metropolitan Ministries to help serve meals, house families, and SO MUCH MORE BEHIND THE SCENES BLESSINGS, please donate here! You can make a difference from Oklahoma to families across the nation.

Blessings, peace, and a little bit of chaos,
